At the '08 SEMA show we were looking for a coilover company willing to offer a solution for the Lexus IS-F. On the final day we hooked up with the folks at BC Racing and found exactly what we were looking for in a performance coilover. Great build quality, affordable price and best of all flexibility in spring rates and valving to serve a number of different tastes. After all, everyone has a different opinion on what they want in a suspension and one size does not fit all. After carefully specifying spring rates that we felt would be a good start, we took delivery of the first part in Jan. 08 and installed them on our test IS-F. The results were dramatic and evident. The stiffer spring rates and enhanced damping had taken the rough low speed ride from the OEM shocks and turned it into small blips of road surface feedback. The high speed handling was more predicatable and entry and exit out of corners was more linear which allowed more precise modulation of the throttle. In short, the car was transformed.

The damping range was then tested for scale, after all what is adjustability if you can only use the bottom 5 settings. Overall we found a good range from 5-25 clicks on the system. 9 clicks out on the front shocks and 12 clicks out on the rear provided an excellent canyon/track setting while a more conservative 20 clicks FR and 25 clicks RR was a more suitable ride for a daily driver. Regardless of your personal settings these will get you where you want and allow drastic changes in the way your vehicle performs with a few clicks of the knob.   • Mono-Tube Shock (Rebuildable) design
  • 30 way adjustable damping control (compression/ rebound) via knurled knob on top of shock.
  • Optional Pillowball or rubber upper mounts. Rubber mounts offer a lower noise ride while Pillowball offer precision handling.
  • Separate ride height adjustment means that you do not need to change spring preload to adjust vehicle ride height.
  • Springs rates are specified below but can be customer specified as well. Large steps in spring rate will also include the proper revalving. Allow 1-2weeks for revalving of custom orders.

To compliment the front side of the rear suspension we have designed our own traction links. They help locate the rear end more precisely via the rod end replacing the stock rubber bushing. They are also pretty close to stock weight while adding a lot of adjustment options. Great for additional freedom in rear alignment adjustment.

The stock toe links on the IS300 and Gen 2 GS are a significant cause of inner tire wear and eve worse the inner subframe adjustment mounts can become damaged making an alignment a crap shoot. FIGS has taken a long time to develop an OEM quality solution that allows easy adjustment, long product service life and the most control over the rear toe geometry of any similar product on the market. We maintained the strength of the system with absolutly no weldment at the rod end interface. That means a carbon steel or chromoly single peice thread stud integrated with the bearing for maximum strength. Tapered studs are precision machined and heat treated 4140 chromoly that are then ED coated to keep them from rusting. FIGS designed our own HMA top nut, an industry first. This allows maximized top clearance and compactness so that there is no interference. It also allows serviceability should the rod end wear and need replacing. These compliment the MEGA arms by providing a blance rear steering strategy under bump, making them an obvious choice for descriminating race teams and club cars.

Location:Front of lower rear suspension

Features:

  • Length adjustment of up to 1.5" without removing from vehicle.
  • Adjusts rear caster angle, Camber without affecting toe. A perfect add-on for vehicles with MEGA Arms and Toe links. Note: for initial camber adjustment FIGS suggests MEGA arms first as the work to counteract the toe links. This balance is what saves tire wear, not camber itself.
  • Increased rear steering feel because rubber bushing is replaced with a rod end.

Bushing Sets:

As a compliment to our other suspension products, we will be slowing building up a bushing set base on the most critical applications.

The First Bushing set will be a solid steering rack bushing, due to be released on 4-20-2010. The next target will be the front Caster bushed for the leading arm int he front suspension.

Solid Steering Rack Bushings IS300 all years

Desc: The first of a series of solid bushing kits, these alumium bushings press fit into the steering rack and eliminate any squirm in the steering. These are two sided with a press-fit side and a spacer side.

Specs:

  • 6061 aluminum, machined and knurled
  • 2 bushings, 2 spacers per kit
  • Replaces 2 oem rubber-on-steel collar bushings

 

Install: It is suggested that the rack be removed and that these would be pressed in via a shop press from the front of the rack, however it is also possible to press them from the back side and slip the spacer in-between the rack and the front subframe.
